Meet Elijah.
Elijah Perry is a transformative leader dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in renewable energy and workforce development for underserved communities. As the Executive Director at GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic, Elijah spearheaded efforts that achieved a remarkable financial turnaround for the affiliate, increasing the budget from a $1.7 million deficit to a surplus of $475,000. His financial stewardship and ability to forge strong partnerships with private foundations, corporate sponsors, and government entities have cemented the organization’s sustainability, ensuring impactful, long-term community engagement.
Under Elijah’s leadership, the GRID Mid-Atlantic NextGen Training Academy was established to create a more inclusive and diverse solar workforce, equipping underrepresented populations with technical skills for the renewable energy sector. His results-driven approach to workforce training and his passion for equity have empowered hundreds of individuals to pursue sustainable careers, breaking down systemic barriers in the clean energy industry. Elijah’s commitment to inclusive leadership and DEIB work has been instrumental in building an organizational culture that actively addresses and dismantles systemic oppression.
Previously, as Director of Development at GRID Mid-Atlantic, Elijah secured over $30 million in philanthropic funding and led comprehensive development and workforce strategies that fostered robust donor and stakeholder relationships. His vision and expertise in DEIB initiatives enhanced GRID’s operational resilience and reinforced a commitment to economic and racial justice.
With a comprehensive background in fundraising and development, Elijah’s career includes notable tenures with PFLAG National, Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, and Children’s Hospital Foundation, where he managed multimillion-dollar campaigns, developed impactful corporate partnerships and expanded visibility for social causes. He also brings deep expertise in public policy and event management from roles with Feeding America and the American Hotel & Lodging Association, adeptly overseeing high-profile events that fostered community engagement and drove mission support.
